CaRE@Home: Virtual Rehabilitation for Cancer Survivors

CaRE@Home is an 8-week supervised exercise & self-management program delivered via a virtual platform (telephone, internet). This study is for individuals living with a history of breast, colorectal, lymphoma, or head and neck cancer who have completed treatment for their cancer and are struggling to recover or are dealing with treatment side effects.

Participants will be randomized into an 8-week supervised exercise & self-management program delivered a virtual platform (telephone, internet) or randomized into an 8-week usual care program.

Participants randomized into the CaRE@Home intervention will be involved for 8 months, including the 8-week randomized program and regular short in-person assessments and online questionnaires at various timepoints over the 8 months.

Participants randomized into the usual care will complete regular short in-person assessments and online questionnaires at various timepoints over 5 months then be offered the CaRE@Home 8-week program at the end of the study.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Age 18 years or older
  • Diagnosed with breast (stage 0-III), colorectal (stage I-III), head and neck (stage I-III), or lymphoma/lymphoproliferative disorder (excluded: recurrent, refractory, progressive, received or planning to receive transplant)
  • Completed a primary treatment (i.e. surgery and/or radiation and/or systemic therapy of any kind) within the last 24 months
  • Communicate sufficiently in English to complete intervention and questionnaires
  • Willing to be randomized and participate in the 8-week virtual intervention
  • Internet access
